Dog sledding has long been a part of life on Svalbard. The silence, the interaction between man and dog and the amazing landscape which surrounds you will never be forgotten.
On this tour you will be picked up from your accommodation in Longyearbyen and driven by car into the Advent Valley. We'll continue up the spectacular road which passes Mine 7 at stop at the Kjell Henriksen observatory. Here we'll put on snow shoes and hike opp towards Breinosa where the guide has a camp with the dogs.
On Foxfonna you harness the dogs with help from the guide. After a briefing on dog sledding you will mush out and up over Foxfonna, with fantastic snow, and views over mountains, fjords and valleys, from 450 metres over sea level!
The guide will drive first with two participants on his sled. They will swap between mushing and travelling as passengers. After this sled, the other sleds will be shared with two participants per sled. Each sled is pulled by 5 or 6 polar dogs.
This is a demanding trip due to the snow shoe hike on variable snow conditions.
