The Cider House is located in Balestrand in an organic fruit orchard with more than 100 fruit varieties. We are situated a short 15 min walk along the fjord from Kviknes Hotel. Our restaurant is in a glass house with a panoramic view of the Sognefjord.
From May 2017 the Cider House is an Économusée – artisans at work, a sustainable craft tourism initiative where the artisans are chosen based on their commitment for quality and the genuine.
LEARN & TASTE
In our cider cellar we use traditional methods to make “champagne-cider” and distil apple brandy. Join one of our family members telling your party all about how we make fruit and berries into juice, cider and brandy. The program lasts for approx. 30 min and includes samples of cider or juice.
VISIT OUR SHOP
The Cider House has its own shop with approx. 20 types of Balholm-ciders, fruit juices and food souvenirs from the garden. In 2017 the shop is open from May 22nd from 12-18, Sunday to Friday (no sale of alcohol on Sundays).
EAT & DRINK
The restaurant offers a menu with local produce and is inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine. Here you can try our beverages, together with warm and cold dishes (incl. vegetarian and vegan dishes) and desserts.
The summer restaurant is in 2017 open from June 22nd – August 18th. Sunday – Friday at 12-18 o’clock. Thursday from 12-21 o’clock. Closed Saturday due to private events such as weddings.
