The Coastal Development Area ("Landscape Park") in Sveio is the south-western part of the municipality, where Bømlo fiord meets the sea, ”Sletta”. The coastal landscape is open, and for thousands of years the inhabitants’ fishing and farming have left their mark on it.
Ryvarden lighthouse is a well-established tourist attraction, and the area has many other fascinating places to visit too, by car or bicycle, on foot or by boat.
There are 9 designated Development Areas in Hordaland County, all encompassing landscapes with special qualities. The inhabitants cooperate to provide good-quality attractions for tourists and others living there based on the local history and traditions of the area.
