At the Coastal Heritage Museum in Florø, an exciting combination of nature and culture awaits. The museum teaches you about the history of life along the coast.

The museum is located in a beautiful coastal area connected by trails and walking paths. In the outdoor area you will find old boathouses, an authentic boat workshop and an idyllic coastal landscape connected by paths and bridges. Here you can explore the shore and try crab fishing in the summer season, while learning about Florø’s development as a coastal town. An experience that balances knowledge and the feeling of fresh ocean air! We offer activities for the whole family!

Exhibitions:

The museum has two exhibition buildings where you can learn about the cultural history of the Sogn og Fjordane coastline, as well as alternating exhibitions.

Food, drinks and gift shop:

In the main building you will find a small café serving coffee, cold drinks and homemade cakes. The Coastal Heritage Museum also has a gift shop with a selection of gifts, yarn, souvenirs and children’s games. The café offers gluten-free and lactose-free options. Season and opening hours:

Getting there:

The Coastal Heritage Museum is located about 2 km from the Florø city centre – a 30-minute walk. A city bus runs from the city bus station (300 metres from the harbour) around once every half hour. It takes about 15 minutes to Brendøyvegen, around 600 metres from the museum. Cars can drive via Brendøyvegen to the parking lot near the exhibition buildings. From the Florø city centre, just follow the signs towards the airport until you see the signs that say “Kystmuseet”.

Groups arriving by bus can drive up to the bus parking in Båtevika and take the walking path up through the outdoor area to the museum. The bus may also choose to unload passengers at the Brendøyvegen intersection. From there, it’s a 100-metre walk to the entrance.
