- Holiday home for families and one, two or three generations together.
The Beitstadfjorden is beautilfully situated like a blue belt with the islets Korsholmen and Midtiholmen linked to the cultural landscape of Letnes. The cottage Wigen is located between islets in a bay in the fjord.
Wigen is a newly built on the foundation of an old croft. Respecting the historic place and wishing to convey the history, 2 small houses have been constructed under one roof. In 1850 it was the custom for crofts to have the main house and the barn under one roof.
The croft was inhabited from 1791 to 1873. At times, many people resided on the farm. Wigen had 14 acres of land at its disposal, 1 cow, 5 sheep and grew potatoes, oats and barley. Additionally, they supplemented their food supply by fishing in the fjord.
Come and experience the lovely ambience of the cottage. The mistress who lived here in the mid 1800s was keen to care for her family. Today, many people want to care for and cultivate family ties during their holiday and this is the perfect place to do so.
The cottage can accommodate up to 12 people. There are 4 bedrooms and there are 3 double beds/double alcoves.
The kitchen and livingroom is in the main house. In the "barn", there are toilets in both the ground - and 1. floors and a separate bathroom.
The cottage is stuated by the fjord and we have boat - and canoe rental.
A marked trail nearby gives you the perfect opportunity to explore the cultural landscape.
Close to the croft/cottage there is a lean-to with its own campfire pan and which can seat many. Barbeque fish from the fjord, hotdogs or roast waffles over the fire.
