This hike is one of DNT's Historic walking routes. A collaboration between DNT and the National Heritage Board, which makes old trails better known and more widely used. The selected routes offer great outdoor experiences in combination with unique cultural heritage.
On Finnskogrunden, you can experience a cross-section of Finnskog's distinctive Finnish history and culture - through cultural landscapes, cultural monuments and other sights. You'll also experience the variations in nature and the forest landscape. The tour goes around Lake Møkeren in Kongsvinger municipality and follows well-trodden and less-trodden paths between Finnish villages, homesteads, schoolhouses and hamlets.
The hike can be done in three day stages with overnight stays in DNT's Lebiko and Grasbråtan cabins. There are also other accommodation options on the route.
