Kittelsenhuset is situated in the centre of Kragerø, among charming narrow streets and lanes. Theodor Kittelsen is a norwegian artist known for his interpretation of mythical creatures and fairytales.
He was born on the second floor, and as a child he felt as if the distance between the kitchen stove and the living room window was infinite.
Welcome to the small house in the center of Kragerø, where the renowned fairytale illustrator Theodor Kittelsen was born in 1857.
Exhibition 2018:
This year we exhibit Kittelsen’s satire drawings from the series “Do Animals Have Soul?” along with some of his fabled drawings.
Every day throughout the summer at noon and at 2pm we offer guided tours of the museum and the streets where Theodor played and ventured as a child. We also offer reading of fairytales for children at 1pm, every day!
