- from Syndrol to Hemsing bridge
This historic section of road was opened in 1808 and replaced The Bergen “Kongevei”, which ran along the east side of Vangsmjøsa. Kvamskleiva is dramatic and steep but safe to travel. Along the way you should stop and admire the spectacular view.

Attention! During 2021 the stage along Kvamskleiva will be closed for safety reasons because of construction work along the E16 through Kvamskleiva. During periods without construction work (i.e. parts of the summer holidays) it may be accessible. The closure effects the section from the parking area at Hemsing bro to the stream Sauebekken. In times when the section is closed, it is possible to follow the western section from beyond Sauebekken to Syndrol in the centre of Vang and end the trip there.
