Rumbling waterfalls with salmon leaping, outstanding natural beauty and close to town. Kjærra in Lardal is a peaceful place to stay and a wonderful place to explore.  Situated in one of the most spectacular sceneries of Lågendalen you find the Kjærra Waterfalls Park. The Park, covering both sides of the river Lågen, derives its name from the famous Kjærra Waterfalls. Here, the river splits into two separate courses: The Eastern Falls and The Western Falls. The Kjærra tradition of salmon fishing goes back to the Middle Ages. Traditions were revitalised in the 1990s, and now lots of curious spectators come to watch the  fishermen practice the spectacular fishpot techniques. Actually, fish that is caught goes on auction, so possibly you will leave with a salmon in your hands as well as a smile on your face.   In addition, you can experience entertaining exhibitions and the odd concert in summer in this area of beauty and wilderness that attracts hikers and city dwellers alike. Situated only 30 minutes by car from Larvik city centre.
