Overview

Sørøya has some of the best deep-sea fishing spots in all of Europe. In addition, around 1500 freshwater lakes are waiting for those who want to try their luck.

If you want to go deep-sea fishing, you can join one of the fishing boats out on the fishing grounds, or you can hire your own boat. In association with Sørøy Fair, the Sørøy Havfiskeklubb (Deep-sea Fishing Club) arranges a deep-sea fishing festival on 7-8 July (see Activity Calendar), where fishermen from many countries take part. Sørøya holds the Norwegian record for total catches over two days, of approx. 25,000 kg fish and the largest cod weighing 37.5 kg.
