Winter Adventures in Myrkdalen
The journey starts in Myrkdalen Mountain Resort - the largest ski resort in Western Norway. The snow really buckets down in Myrkdalen and the resort is surrounded by beautiful mountains. In Myrkdalen you will be staying at the modern Myrkdalen Hotel - with ski in - ski out access to the ski slopes, two bars and three restaurants.
You will get ski passes during your stay and are welcome to enjoy great days on the slopes. If you are not a skier you can enjoy a vast variety of winter adventures such as sledging and snowshoeing. The last evening in Myrkdalen you will have a cosy after ski evening under the open sky, where you can relax around the campfire and enjoy something warm to drink – or perhaps you just want to play in the snow?
From Myrkdalen you will be travelling by bus to Flåm and the historical Fretheim Hotel. The hotel has two bars and a restaurant with a magnificent view of the fjord and mountains. The restaurant is known for its fantastic food based on local ingredients.
The next day lower your shoulders and kick back on a fjord cruise through the narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjorden - surrounded by steep snow-capped mountains and picturesque small villages that clings to the mountainsides. Back in Flåm includes a bus trip to Stegastein Viewpoint, which hangs 30 meters out from the mountainside and 650 meters over the Aurlandsfjord. You will have a panoramic view of the fjord and mountain landscape that guaranteed will stick in your mind forever.
On the day of departure, you will travel with the world famous Flåm Railway from Flåm to Myrdal. The Flåm Railway is known as the steepest and most beautiful train ride in the world. Within an hour the train has gone from zero to 867 metres (2844ft) above sea level – past tall mountains, lush nature and cascading waterfalls. Myrdal is the last stop on the journey. From Myrdal, you can take a train back to Bergen or Oslo. This train ride is not included in the package price.
