The Randsfjord Ferry II

Randsfjordferja II (The Randsfjord Ferry 2) is Norway’s oldest car ferry in daily route
It was built in 1949 and launched in lake Mjøsa during 1950, where it sailed in route between Gjøvik and Mengshol. About 50 years ago, The Randsfjord ferry was dismantled and transferred to lake Randsfjorden, where it got reassembled and renamed to "Randsfjordferja II". To this date the ferry retains an important role among the locals in Bjoneroa and the surrounding commuters.

Now the over 70 years diesel-fuelled ferry is ready to give room for a modern and more eco-friendly electric car ferry, which will go by the name "Elrond". It's being built in Netherlands and transported to Gran for assembly during the autumn 2021.

On a yearly basis the ferry transports about 45 000 passengers and 25 000 vehicles as Norway's only freshwater car ferry open all the year around
