The sail in the Jøsenfjord

The sail in the Jøsenfjord

The sail in the Jøsenfjord is an unusually beautiful year-round lookout point in the village of Jøsenfjorden in Hjelmeland, Ryfylke.

Hjelmeland municipality, Ryfylke

The village of Jøsenfjord is located on both sides of the Ulla River, around five kilometers from RV13 along the fjord (the road towards Gullingen). Here you will find a shop and a kindergarten, and for ages, sand and gravel have been extracted here for construction purposes elsewhere. The starting point for the hike to Seglet can be found at Hauge on the east side of the river. Follow the signs to Buhagen and park at the gate by the stream. Then follow the signs to Iglatjørn (also a hiking checkpoint) before the trail continues to the viewpoint Seglet at approximately 170 meters above sea level.

Every year in February, the sun sets at the mouth of the fjord. The weather and sunlight conditions vary greatly throughout the year. There is always something new to experience here! Feel free to write your name in the hiking checkpoint logbook. Return the same way you came.
