Stay right by the sea at beautiful Selsøyvik in modern, architect-designed studio apartments with a private swimming jetty and sauna. Enjoy long days in peaceful surroundings close to nature, just a short walk from one of Northern Norway’s oldest trading posts.
The Aurora and Sinus studio apartments have been boldly yet sensitively designed to blend into the landscape. Sheltered among the rocky shoreline just beyond the historic trading post, they bring together old and new through the traditional boathouse-red colour, natural materials, and modern architecture with strong lines and well-designed spaces. The result is a place that simply feels good to be in, whether you want to slow down, recharge and find inspiration, or use it as a base for exploring the coast and surrounding islands.
The apartments
The studio apartments are located in the central building. Both feature a simple kitchenette, a double bed, and a comfortable seating area where guests can relax, read, or enjoy the views of the sea and sky through the large windows. The apartments share bathroom facilities, located in one of the adjoining buildings.
Large windows and high-quality light timber panelling create bright, airy and welcoming interiors where it is easy to settle in and unwind. From the comfort of the apartment, guests can watch the changing weather, the Northern Lights in winter, and the Midnight Sun in summer.
The sauna
The wood-fired sauna accommodates up to seven people and includes a changing room and outdoor shower. Just outside, a walkway leads down to a floating jetty with a swimming ladder, making it easy to take a refreshing dip before heading back into the warmth.
Selsøyvik Trading Post and the surrounding islands
The sauna house belong to Selsøyvik Trading Post, located just a short walk away. This historic trading post has been in continuous operation since 1777. Guests can still shop in the old general store, now one of Helgeland’s most charming local shops, enjoy a meal in the restaurant, and experience the unique historical surroundings.
The area is excellent for kayaking, and Selsøyvik is connected by road to the neighbouring island of Rangsundøya, which offers several easy and enjoyable hikes. The surrounding archipelago is also within easy reach, with ferry and express boat connections to nearby islands including Gjærøy, Rødøy, Storselsøy (Hestmona), Myken and others.
