Escape the everyday and experience a truly one-of-a-kind place to stay.

Escape the everyday and experience a truly one-of-a-kind place to stay. At Nermo Hotell in Hafjell, the owning family, the fifth and sixth generation on the farm, have rebuilt two old timber buildings called «stabbur" dating from before 1730 and transformed them into four exclusive suites where history meets modern comfort. A stabbur is a traditional Norwegian raised storehouse and in days gone by it was the finest building on the farm, often more richly decorated and more solidly built than the other houses on the farm.

The two storehouses were carefully dismantled, restored and brought back to life exactly as they stand today, a six-year labour of love and a long-held dream finally fulfilled for the family.

Each suite has its own spa-like bathroom with a handcrafted, Norwegian-made wooden bathtub sunk into the floor, and soft textiles from the local Gudbrandsdalen Woollen Mill. Rustic elegance, peace and privacy make these suites a place to close the door behind you and simply enjoy each other's company.

As a guest, you also have access to everything the hotel has to offer: a fireside lounge, an outdoor pool in summer, a large terrace with sweeping views, golf and mini-golf, and the Nermostuene restaurant, serving locally sourced food from the Gudbrandsdalen valley. Breakfast can be enjoyed in your suite, by the window, on your private terrace or in the restaurant. Just behind the hotel runs the historic Pilgrim's Path along the hillside, with small clearings that offer both views and seclusion.

The Stabbur Suites have been named among the world's 25 most romantic historic hotels by Historic Hotels Worldwide, in both 2025 and 2026. Perfect for couples seeking something special – whether it's a romantic weekend away, a honeymoon, or an occasion that deserves a little extra.

Just 18 km north of Lillehammer, with Hafjell's ski resort and miles of hiking and cycling trails right on your doorstep.
