"The heavy water war" gives you a great insight in the four sabotages that took place in Rjukan during world war 2, to prevent that Germans got hold on heavy water that was produced in Rjukan.

While scientist Werner Heisenberg involuntarily was drawn into the German war to develop the atomic bomb, professor Leif Tronstad is planning the deadly mission of the Norwegian saboteurs: The explosion of Norwegian Hydro production plant at Vemork.

Experience Rjukan
At Rjukan you can become better acquainted with what saboteurs went through during WW2.

Here you can join a guided tour "In the saboteur's footsteps" or hike along "The saboteur trail" on your own. You can visit Vemork /the heavy water plant which today is a museum called Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum. Here you can see the exhibition of the sabotage missions and the industrial revolution in Norway, and in Rjukan.

Location guidebook on Ipad
During the filming of the TV show "The heavy water war" the author and photographer Ian Brodie from New Zealand has mad a location guidebook to document the history and the movie recording. Brodie has created location guidebooks for The Lord of the rings and The Hobbit.
