The world's largest lawn chair at Oftenåsen in Steinkjer

The world's largest garden chair thrones over Steinkjer from the top of the city mountain Oftenåsen, with panoramic views over Steinkjer city, the fjord, Ogndalen and southwards towards Lake Leksdalsvatnet, with Hermannsasa mountain brooding in the background.

Oftenåsen, situated about 4 km south east of the city centre, is the city mountain and Steinkjer's highest point with  336 m.a.s.l. Oftenåsen is Steinkjer's nature haven with a rich network of trails around the mountain.

The chair was built in 2013 and is a tribute to two local heroes for their efforts to improve the hiking trails in the area. The names are carved into the back of the chair. The chair is 4.75 m tall and weighs 2.5 tonnes.
