Torra - midpoint of coastline

Beacon on the islet Torra in Bjugn - Torra Wall - was erected to mark the Seafarers here was half way along the shore.

A tradition says that cairn marks the half way between the Russian border in the north and the Swedish border in the south. Another tradition says that here was north farers half way between Bergen and Lofoten.

The cairn bears the inscription "Raised 1871", as well as several names that may apply builders mark. The unique color combination - white cairn with red belt - makes it easy to recognize the place.
