Tour pealrs: Skimtefjell, Spydeberg

Skimtefjell By: Linken Malene Raeng Summary of the trip: Forest sorrel and white sap spread over the ground between the strong fir trunks. Narrow strips of sunlight illuminate the forest floor and make the many white flower heads shine. From Skihytta we stroll into the cultural forest, and as soon as we are caught by the shadows in here it gets chilly. The trail that will lead us to Skimtefjell and the cabin is blue-marked, with clear signs at all junctions. We stroll past cabins and logging fields, past old stumps and over gnarled roots. Eventually we catch a glimpse of Langtjern, where a suitable chat bench has been set up for those who want to have a breather on the ground. The path gradually winds its way up the mountain where pine and heather dominate, and soon after we see the cabin between the trees. Once there, you can sign in the guest book which is in a box by the long table, and stroll up to the knoll nearby. From here you can look out over the Gulltjernmosen nature reserve towards Telemark and Gaustadtoppen in the distance. From Skimtefjellhytta you can follow your own footsteps back to the car, or possibly choose another path for a longer round trip.
