A high rock wall rises towards the sky; smaller birch trees hang out from the mountain sides and in the creek bed below the water flows swiftly down towards the marsh. We will go to the Gaupesteinen, a huge moving block that the ice transported here for . Blue markings show the way up to Tyrihjellen, where the red-marked light trail begins. We turn onto this, and as it makes a sharp turn to the left, we choose the path straight ahead. The trip goes through wild and beautiful nature, and soon we arrive at Gaupesteinhytta. Signage shows the way forward towards Gaupesteinen. We follow the blue markings over carpets of bear moss, over old clods, past shifting stones, countless upturned roots and old stumps, through clods where the stream flows freely at the bottom and finally up towards the Gaupesteinen. It is huge - far bigger than we had imagined beforehand! After signing the guestbook, we follow our own footsteps to the cabin, where we turn onto the light trail that takes us back to Tyrihjellen.
