Skarsota By Linken Malene Raeng The dirt road leads south through a damp and dark forest, and before the barrier at the bottom of the hill, a landmark shows the way up the hillside. The narrow path leads through an area with a lot of white road and up the mountainside. The blue-marked path leads us up a mountainside where long, mossy tree roots wind between larger rocks. At the top, a giant stone is enthroned; it resembles a bollard that marks the entrance to the ancient monuments. The path continues out to the large piles, which still partly "look out over the whole world". The view is great over the Glomma, which is 611 kilometers long and Norway's longest river. We follow the blue-marked path further up Sotåsen, where we find a re-stacked pile. The view at the very top is fantastic and well worth the effort. From the campfire at the outermost knoll, we get a view over Glomma, over to Furuholmen and Tunøya and into the forests to the east.
