Kolsåstoppen is a well-known peak in Bærum. It is one of the biggest climbing fields in the Oslo area, but more known for its beautiful paths. Kolsåstoppen consisting of two peaks, Nordre Kolsåsbanen which is 379 m and Southern Kolsåsbanen which is 342 m. Between the peaks lies the idyllic small Seats Ponds.
Hiking to Kolsåstoppen
Kolsåstoppen is a well-known profile of residents in Asker and Bærum. It is one of the biggest climbing fields in the Oslo area, but the top is also suitable for beautiful walks. Kolsåstoppen consisting of two peaks, Nordre Kolsåsbanen which is 379 m and Southern Kolsåsbanen which is 342 m. Between the peaks lies an idyllic small lake "Seterstjern". Once you have arrived at the top you are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over Oslo, Bærum and Oslo Fjord. On top there is a great anleding to take a good break. Parts of Kolsåstoppen located within Kolsåstoppen nature reserve belonging Kolsås / Dælivannet conservation area.
The route: From Stein Gård is the marked path and sign for Setestjern. The trail goes a little south of Knabberud farm and follows a steep cliff south, before anything climb up to Seats Ponds. From there it is signposted further south to Southern Kolsås. Here the view is enjoyed little before following blåmerking further down from the top. The top party here is steep, but is partially accessible with stairs and handrails. The trail takes you down to a dirt road where you go north past KIFhytta and on the east side of the top back to the Stein Gård.
The trail is about 6, 8 km long, and takes 2 hours to complete one way. It is moderately difficult with some steep paths.

You can take public transportation: Bus from Bærums Verk or Bekkestua to Stein Farm or by car: Parking at Stein Gård, on the north side of rv168
