Fast, exciting and crazy fun! Come and join us for a speedy boat trip on the sea around Tromsø.
Seeing the city, mountains, fjords and the picturesque Arctic landscape by boat is a wonderful experience, but travelling by rigid inflatable boat (RIB) is lots of fun and adds an extra dimension.
Meet at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The captain will inform you about the trip, give a safety briefing and provide a warm thermal suit.
The trip heads south passing Telegrafbukta, Tromsø’s very own beach and a popular place to meet, including during the Bukta Open Air Festival, which takes place in mid-July every year. We then head around the flat island of Grindøya, which is part of a nature reserve established in 1995 due to the area’s rich bird life and botanical variation. We then pass the island of Håkøya, where the hilltop is covered in forest, while you can see houses, cabins and farms along the coastline. The island is connected to the main island of Kvaløya by a 330-metre single lane bridge.
The German battleship Tirpitz was anchored on the southern tip of Håkøya from 15 October 1944 until it was sunk by English bombers on 12 November 1944. A memorial commemorating the more than 1,200 people who died is situated on Håkøya. Although the Tirpitz was later sold and divided up, some small remains can still be found.
This trip offers excellent opportunities for photography, so remember a camera.
