Trondenes Church is the northernmost and one of the most important stone churches from medieval times.
The church is located at Trondenes, ca. 10 min from the center of Harstad in an area which has traces back to the Viking era. After several years of restoration the doors were again opened in 1950. Your first impression as you enter the church is the beauty of the religious artwork and the vast, high-ceilinged room that is quite unique. At the head of the church there are three triptych which represents an important part of the church's 700-800 years history. In the roof structures were also found some remains of what is the oldest preserved sails. The church still houses many puzzles and is an experience for visitors!
Summer 2020 the church is open between 11:00 and 14:00 until August 9th.
