Via Ferrata family route at Mt. Løefjell, Brokke

Overlooking the Brokke Alpine Centre, Mt. Løefjell has been popular among climbers for many years. It is famous for its long, alpine routes of varying difficulty.

In the summer of 2016 a via ferrata was set up at Mt. Løefjell. Via ferrata means iron road, as there are iron rungs all the way up. The climbers are also – at all times – secured to the rock by means of a steel cable.

This via ferrata is perfect for families and beginners, suitable for children aged 6 and upwards. Those who do not want to climb may instead follow the marked hiking trail to the top of the mountain, at 934 m.a.s.l. Remember to bring your swimwear on warm summer days. About 100 metres from the top there is a small lake where you can have a dip, whether you have climbed or hiked.

The via ferrata has a length of approximately 450 metres and takes between one and two hours to complete. The walk down to the Løefjell cabin area takes about half an hour.

Via ferrata climbing at Mt. Løefjell is organised by Bratt Friluftsliv / viavalle.no, which also organises similar activities at the far steeper Mt. Straumsfjellet and mt. Nomelandsfjellet.
