Jærmuseet Vitengarden (the Science Farm) is an architecturally interesting building, with an activity farm for children. At Vitengarden visitors shall "learn by doing". You are invited to be active and explore science and history in new and absorbing ways. Where does our food come from, for how long do you have to cycle in order to burn it off? Do you dare exploring the treasures of the dark swamp? How much horsepower do you generate? Explore this and much more at Vitengarden. Vitengarden is especially devoted to the "green" sciences and provides experiences and information about the cultural landscape, development of tools, agriculture and food production through the ages, with main emphasis on modern day Jæren. Jærmuseet was awarded the "Museum of the Year 2009" award in Norway. The museum also received the European "Micheletti Award 2009", for best technological museum in Europe.
Kvia 4H and museumfarm
The farm is situated just Vitengarden-. The farm tells the story of life at a typical Jæren farmstead with environments dating back to the 1950s. There are animals such as old cattle bread, horses, pigs and chicken. The farm was established in 1878 same year as the Jæren railway and the house faces towards the east as the people wanted to observe the "new technical wonder".
