von Tangen Fiskebar is named after the company «Christian von Tangen» who was founded in 1827. In this beautiful historic building, he ran the Nordland trade in fish, herring, cod liver oil and eggs. Maritime surroundings will make a very special and unique event.

Meeting and conference, standard day package from 9 am - 4 pm:
Price: NOK 545 per person, including conference room.

How to get there:
You can take the Beffen boat leaving everyday from the fish market, to the von Tangen Fiskebar in Sandviksboder.
You can also catch all buses from the fish market till Åsane, they drive past von Tangen Fish bar – jump off by the stop called Sandvikstorget. See www.skyss.no for timetables and more information.

Everyone is welcome no matter the occasion! Bring your colleagues, family or friends - we work together with Norwegian Fisheries Museum which is housed in the same stalls. We arrange guided tours regardless of the number of guests.

A bit of history:
Already in the Middle Ages, Bergen was an important seaport seething with activity. The pier, dating back to the 1100s, was the city's Docklands. When the Hanseatic League took over the wharfside in 1360, the local traders moved their business to the beachside towards the monastery and approached also the other side in Sandviken.

While the pier lay like a smooth line to the dock, there were spaces filled with water between the warehouses in Sandviken. These were packing sheds for storage of goods, while making it possible for all the boats to come right up to the stalls. Bryggen had a more complex settlement.

Bergen was at this time a major international port with great influence in Northern Europe. All this activity; shipping, trade, rope factory and mill operation, has since then, characterized the seaside areas of Sandviken. The area is considered as an important historic port with industrial structure and must be viewed in conjunction with the world heritage site Bryggen.

Until 1950, the sea in Sandviken went all the way up to the inhabited areas, it was a harbor with small boats. The settlement structure has been dramatically changed. Historic maps show a continuous and rapid development of the area from the 1600s. The warehouses in Sandviken and the remaining rope factory are the visible traces of past activities. Today, some of these facilities clearly possess architectural qualities. The preservation of these buildings from 1900 will therefore help to draw attention to the continuous development history in a dynamic metropolitan area.

Von Tangen Fish bar is named after the company "Christian von Tangen" which was founded in 1827. He started his business in Bredsgården on Tyskebryggen. It was trade in fish, herring, cod liver and roe. From the 1800 century this company invested in north-traders and sent expedition ship north to Lofoten aswell.

Welcome to von Tangen Fishbar with its tasty cuisine in vibrant and unique surroundings. An interaction marked by cultural and culinary traditions from older days and modern dishes developed in recent times.

• Outdoor seating 50 guests
