Walk to Harøyburet

Harøyburet
Harøyburet

Harøyburet (156 m.a.s.l.) is the highest hilltop on the islands that earlier made up Sandøy municipality. From here you will get a wonderful view over the surrounding island community from south to north.

You can either choose between two routes (same lenghts).

Via Lomstjørna

Start by the graveyard / Meeting spot in Breidalen. This is an easy accessible graveled road / path were it is also possible to bring a stroller. Be aware of some steeper parts. No plowing when there is snow!

From the graveyard by Breidalen walk 300 meters and enter a graveled path with a sign saying "STIKK UT!". Keep to the left and follow the road up to the "mountain side" Breidalsaksla, and follow the graveled path all the way up to Lomstjørna. Here you will find a pond an a bench. If possible you can take the path further up to Harøyburet from here.

There is no parking lot at the graveyard, just 5-6 possible spots close by, so we recommend cycling or walking to this destination.

From Hyrvedalen

From the parking lot you follow the path that passes the toll gate. The first 50 meters from Hyrvedalen are steep, but then it flattens out and you will get to enjoy the view. The path is clear and you can take left when it separates for the fastes way up to the top. On the top you will find a register mailbox and book from Harøy sports team.

Parking: From the sign towards Hyrvedalen by the main road you follow a tractor road passing Hagen and park in the end of the road.
