For about 1000 years Tokke has had an export industry of whetstones. For Norwegian Vikings whetstone from Eidsborg was an effective weapon for throwing as the historic sagas tell us.

Whetstone from Eidsborg is the one of oldest export articles in Norway. With continuous production from the Viking era and up to around 1950, this activity laid the foundation for The Telemark Canal as an important transport and trade route. West-Telemark Museum has its own theme exhibition on whetstones.

From the museum i Eidsborg there is a walking trail up to Brunåslid quarry.
