Winter hike to Preikestolen

Join and grab this unique opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking winter landscape of the Lysefjord.

Due to snow and ice it is not recommended to walk up to Preikestolen alone in winter. Weather conditions can also change rapidly. You need to be prepared, you need the right equipment, and you need a guide.

With Outdoorlife Norway, your guide will meet you at your requested meeting point in Stavanger (approx. 7am). We take the local ferry to Tau and drive to our starting point, where we will grab a coffee at Preikestolen Mountain Lodge for a briefing. It is highly recommended to spent the night in this cozy lodge, either the night before or after your trip.

The busy summer season is far away and the trail to Preikestolen is often covered in ice and snow. Use of snowshoes and/or spikes will be adjusted to the current ice- and snow conditions. Your guide will lead you through the white landscape, all the way up to the mountain plateau. Along the way we'll take breaks and drink hot beverages.

After 2,5-3,5 hours of good exercise, you will be rewarded with one of the most dramatic landscapes Fjord-Norway has to offer. Standing on the 604-meter-high cliff, the views on the Lysefjord are just awing. And you will be one of very few that came in winter!

Going downhill makes the return a lot easier. After 2 more hours we will be down from the mountain again. Return in Stavanger: approx. 5.30pm

Please read the “Additional information” and “General conditions of contract” before booking.
