The general holiday of 2016 is over, but here are some memories of the month that has passed.
This week’s first photo shows Hurtigruten’s ship Finnmarken on it’s way in Trollfjorden, Austvågøy. Geir Halvard Nilssen is the photographer of this majestic ship sailing in the impressing fjord.
Trollfjorden is one of the locations for the upcoming Hollywood movie «Downsizing» with Matt Damon and Christoph Waltz in two of the leading roles. The two Academy Awards winners have spent the previous week in Northern Norway, and if all goes according to plan, the movie is set to premiere next year.
We have received a picture of some smaller boats as well. Pål Rune Lien has taken this great photo of rowing boats in a bay in Å, the Lofoten Islands. Thank you!
The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) recently said that their cabin network never has seen more activity than this summer, something that tells us that more and more people choose the Norwegian mountains as a destination for their holidays. This picture shows some of the 10 000 meters of The Old King’s Road over Filefjell mountain. Our thanks to Kari Bakken for the picture!
Northern Norway is by far the largest and most sparsely populated part of mainland Norway, and covers more than a third of the country. It stretches from the idyllic Helgeland region in the south to mainland Europe’s northernmost point near the North Cape.
Landscape photographers are having a field day with the sun, snow and colourful sky.
