A lot of magnificent stunts are done during the Extreme Sports Week, and these videos make it all a little more spectacular.
Each year, extreme sports performers from all over the world gathers in Voss to participate in Ekstremsportveko. This year the Extreme Sports Week was arranged between June 26th and July 3rd, and many of the participants are now finishing editing their videos and posting them online.
There are contests and competitions in several sports during Ekstremsportveko, but the sport that creates the most spectacular images is most likely paragliding.
After working their way up to a steep mountainside they start running. Seconds later it’s hundreds of meters straight down, but the view can probably not be any better than when you’re hanging from a paraglider.
It looks dangerous and scary, but Oslo paraglider club emphasizes that paragliding is relatively safe, as long as you take weather, wind, skills, and rules in consideration. There’s always some risk involved when hanging two kilometers above ground, but the sport is very safety oriented
Paragliding reached Norway already in the mid-80s, and today there’s around 70 paraglider clubs and 1200 practitioners between the ages of 15-70 well divided across both genders.
Norwegian mobile company, One Call, also had a paraglider team at Ekstremsportveko. Their video will make you hold your breath:
