It’s official: Winter is coming to Norway this weekend

Large parts of the country will experience snow and freezing temperatures this weekend. And if you want to go skiing, that may be possible as well.

The first snow fall of the year is always a major event in Norway, as both kids and adults hope to be able to bring out their skis and sledges.

Usually, the winter first appears in the mountains and in the north, but this year it seems like the snow will come quite early to both Southern and Eastern Norway as well.

Thanks to pressure passing eastwards of the North Sea, temperatures drop and heavy snowfall is expected before and during the weekend.

And the snow won’t melt for a while either, as the temperatures are expected to stay low during most of next week.

Which, of course, is good news for all looking to go skiing or snowboarding in Norway.

Most of the ski resorts report that their snow cannons are working hard, and that they will officially open next weekend.

Here are some of the first images of winter coming to Norway, courtesy of Instagram.
