Northern lights graced
the skies last night

See the best images of last night’s wondrous northern lights

A clear sky and an intense solar storm made perfect conditions for northern lights enthusiasts and amateur photographers.

Social media overflows with photos from Norwegians who were awake to see last night’s dazzling northern lights dancing across the sky.

“It was a clear, blue sky, which facilitated amazing aurora activity”, meteorologist Geir Ottar Fagerlid, who was on watch last night, says to NRK.

This image, for instance, was taken in Bergen just before sunset:

It is well known that the northern parts of Norway are the best places to see the northern lights. Last night, however, the light appeared on the sky in both Southern Norway and Europe as well.

This photo was actually taken in Re municipality, south-east in Norway.

Light wise, many amateur photographers experienced the best night of the season so far. If you want to get a great shot of the aurora, you can learn how to photograph the northern lights here.

Sadly, the weather forecasts predict cloudy skies for most parts of Norway this weekend, and the chances of seeing a northern lights rerun are slim.

But, if you download the app NorwayLights, you increase your chances of catching the next glimmering dance of the magical light.
