Watch this man play his ukulele 530 meters above the fjord
Helmut Bickel from Austria has travelled Norway and played his ukulele with gorgeous scenery as backdrop.
From Borgund to Hjelle, Eidfjord to Bergen, Helmut Bickel from Austria has been there with his ukulele or guitar. On his YouTube channel he has uploaded several videos of himself in front of beautiful nature and famous landmarks.
With a beautiful view, he sets up his camera and sits down to strum famous songs he thinks suits the places he goes.
Advised by friends who spoke of beautiful landscapes and people, Helmut and his wife visited Norway for the firste time last year. They were fascinated by the country and discovered that their friends were telling the truth.
“I’ve never seen – beside Iceland – such a beautiful landscape” Helmut says.
Along with him he brought his guitar. And what comes more naturally than playing the classic Beatles song “Norwegian Wood” when visiting Norway?
Unfortunately only one video was made from their first trip to Norway. They returned for this year’s holiday, but this time he brought the guitar’s little brother, the ukulele.
“I took my little ukulele because I can take it with me at every walk,” Helmut says.
Two weeks in Norway this summer resulted in six videos of Helmut and his ukulele. At his YouTube channel, you can see Helmut’s guitar playing at several locations throughout Europe as well.
The glaciers, mountains, and waterfalls are all about raw, sublime power. On the other hand, natural wonders such as the northern lights, the midnight sun, the fjords, and quiet national parks highlight Norway’s serene qualities.
