All premises are set by the nature, with the majestic mountain landscape of Hallingdal as it's surrounding scenery. The weather is essential for the Ice Music Festival. The quality of the ice depends on the winter conditions and the sound of it vary as the temperature differs. Therefore, every concert is a unique experience. The festival is at the mercy of nature where the moon decides the time and the weather decides the music.

Most famous for its ski slopes and hundreds of miles of cross country skiing, Geilo also offers many other exciting activities. Come and try dog sledding, tobogganing, snowmobiles or the high ropes course.
Try Norwegian food in traditional surroundings, sample local game or choose an international meal in one of Geilos many restauranst and cafés.
Experience Geilo as it used to be century ago. Visit stave churches, local museums and learn about the knife and tool manufacturing in the area. Explore the waterfalls and mountains of the area.
The shortest route between Oslo and Bergen is rv. 7/fv. 7, and right in the middle of it lies Geilo. Rv. 7/fv. 7 over the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and along the Hardangerfjord is a national tourist route.
You can also reach Geilo by following fv. 50 over the mountains from west to east. The road runs through magnificent nature between Aurland and Hol. From Hol it is 10 kilometres to Geilo.
From Geilo, fv. 40 runs through Numedal, Kongsberg, Larvik and onwards to Tønsberg and Sandefjord.

The train journey along the Bergen Railway goes through some fantastic scenery. On the Bergen Railway you travel in comfort and get to Geilo quickly (three hours and 30 minutes from Oslo/Bergen). The train has five to six departures to and from Geilo daily. The line is operated by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).
