Welcome to a typical Norwegian Fjellstue

Hakkesetstølen is located 1050 m above sea level, surrounded by the beautiful scenerie and nature of Hardangervidda. Take RV40 from Geilo towards Kongsberg and follow the roadsigns in order to get to us.

The mountain lodge is perfectly located for easy walks and cross-country-skiing. The paths and tracks are suitable for all ages and there are also possibilities for fishing. The alpine slopes are only 450 m away from Hakkesetstølen.

We have 9 rooms in the central building. There we serve dinner and breakfast as well as norwegian delicacies out over the day in our café.

Additionally, we have cabins and a flat where you can cook your own food

Groups can join guided tour entitled «Mountain farm life then and now» for groups. See small animals such as rabbits and chickens. For refreshments you can buy: Halling fare, porridge made with cream, cured meats, farmbaked
goods, coffee etc. On offer: Fishing licenses and rowboat/canoe hire.
Overnight accommodation, groups and parties by reservation outside the season as well.

Tour suggestions

Birgithovda, a round walk on single track of 9km, normally suitable by the end of June to the first snow in October. From the little mountainpeak Birgithovda you get great views to the both National Parks Hardangervidda and Hallingskarvet, when the weather is clear you will be able to see the glacer Hardangerjøkulen at Finse and the tops of the alpineslopes in Geilo.

Kikutround takes you from Geilo up to the Hakkesetstølen cabin and back again in a loop of 12km. When you choose to stay on the dirtroad Gamle Skurdalsvegen and then in to the cabin roads at Kikut this tour might be possible from the half of May, when you want to stay on the single track you need to wait to the end og June for dry nice tracks. When the Geilo Summer park is open you can take the chairlift to Bjødnehovda, from here walk to the cabin. Check out the opening hours for the Summerlift from SkiGeilo before planing the tour.

Geilotjørne a happy short round walk around the lake Geilotjørne. You can both cycle, use a stroler or a wheelchair. Depending on the melting of the snow the dirtroad gets dry by the start of June.

From cabin to cabin on the Hardangervidda, with an overnight stay at Hakkesetstølen, offers the opportunity for a short and child-friendly cabin-to-cabin trip or as a test for new shoes and equipment. Take Skyss bus 991 to Lægreid with Ørteren, walk to Tuva Tourist Cabin (13km) for the first overnight stay. The next day, continue to Hakkesetstølen (14km), then descend to Geilo (6km) to take the bus or train back home. Of course, it's also possible the other way around, offering a smooth and easy start with the chairlift at Geilo Summer Park.
