Geilo is a classic winter sport resort, and one of the most complete and popular winter destinations. Hallingskarvet lies majestically and guards over everywhere and everyone. Around the mountain are miles and miles of inviting ski tracks. Let the peacefulness and nature envelope you. Several of the cross country tracks are tied to the Norwegian Tourist Association’s (DNT) marked tracks on the Hardangervidda and Skarvheimen area. In addition, there is a 5-km lighted track at the Geilohallen sports arena. The tracks around the Ustedalsfjorden lake is made for families with children, with information boards about the areas nature and culture.

Geilo devotes considerable resources to pave the way for everyone who uses the ski facilities. Well-groomed slopes in all categories, efficient ski lifts, ski patrol, and separate areas for the small ones, ensures safe and good ski experiences regardless of skill level. The ski slopes are located close to the center. You can ski down the slopes, take off your skis, and walk right into the stores and restaurants.
Geilo is one of the best areas in Norway for cross country skiing, with more than 550 kilometers of tracks both in the valleys and on the mountain plateus. Season starts in October/November and last until May. The most eager cross country skiers can go skiing in the higher mountain areas until June.
Geilo is the perfect ski destination for the whole family, with several ski areas and slopes varying from beginner to expert level.
