Amazing mountain views from Dyna

Dyna Nesbyen
Dyna Nesbyen

From the top of Dyna, you can enjoy an impressive view of Hallingdal and the surrounding mountain areas. This is one of the highest peaks in the region and offers a fantastic panoramic view towards Hallingskarvet, Reineskarvet, the Hemsedal mountains, and the Hardangerjøkulen glacier.

Length: Approx. 13 km

Time spent: 3-4 hours

Starting point: Skålsrudstølen, Nes Nordmark

Labeling: Blue / yellow marks

At the summit of Dyna, there is a viewfinder disk with the names and directions of more than 100 mountain peaks visible from the top (including Rondeslottet, located a full 160 km away).

Starting point: Skålsrudstølen, Nes Nordmark

Trail marking: There are several paths leading to the summit from both Nesbyen and Ål. Here we recommend a circular hike from Skålsrudstølen in Nesbyen. Follow the signs and blue/yellow paint markings. This is a popular round-trip hike, mostly on good trails through birch forest and open mountain terrain. The path crosses several marshy areas, so good footwear is recommended.

Hike description: Park along the road (there is plenty of space) before the gate at the end of Skålsrudstølvegen. The "Bergstien" trail toward Dyna starts on the right-hand side of the road just after the gate and is marked with yellow and blue paint all the way to the summit. The trail winds its way through the terrain, following the ridge south of the lake Ausa, passing south and west of Butten. It then continues up to Vesledyna and Dyna (1,212 meters above sea level), where you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking view. The return route goes down toward Steinstølen, past Brisketjønn, the southern end of Svartevatn, over Holmevassnatten, and down through birch forest back toward Skålsrudstølen. There are many excellent fishing lakes along the route, but remember to bring a fishing permit.

Recommended rest stops: By Butten, Gamle Fjellset, Dyna, Svartevann, and Holmevassnatten.
