The location of Bergsjøstølen is an excellent starting point for the pleasures of nature both summer and winter. Right outside the doorstep you will find several kilometers of trails, good roads for cycling, fishing waters, possibilities for paddling and plenty of other summer activities.
During the winterseason this area is excellent for cross-country skiing, walking with snowshoes, ski kiting and ski sailing - and the distance to several good ski centres are within a short drive. And all this is to be found in a fantastic mountain terrain.
Activites Summer
Bike Rental - Rent mountain bikes, fatbikes or e-bikes at Bergsjstølen
Fishing - Rent equipment, boat and buy fishing license.
Water - You can rent a kayak, boat or canoe at Bergsjøstølen. For all of these activites, call or check out thier website for booking information.
Horsebackriding - Experience the beautiful mountains from the back of a horse. The unique Norwegian fjordhorse will take you safely on an unforgettable journey.
Summer farms - Traditionally the farmers would take their sheeps, cows and horses up to their summer farms, during the summer. The farmers would produce food from the milk, different types of cheese, sour creams and so on. The animals graze in the mountains in the summertime. Even though many do not do this today, there are still some farmers that live in the mouintain all of summer. Visit one of the summer farms to experience some traditional and local food the way it was served a hundred years ago.
Hiking in the mountain - Bergsjøstølen is a great base for hiking. You can choose between easy hikes or more strenious hikes.
Activites Winter
Cross-country skiing - Ål has over 400km of groomed ski trails, and Bergsjøstølen is a great starting point for cross-country.
Kiting - One of the best areas in Norway for kiting. You can join a course with an insturctor several weekends throughout the winter.
Backcountry skiing - Behind Bergsjøstølen you can find some great terrain for backcountry skiing. Be prepared for a long march in to the mouintains, and make sure to check out the avalance forecast.
