There are many rivers and fishing waters in both the forests and the mountains in Ål. Most waters are easily accessible and the journey to them is a superb nature outing in itself. We can particularly recommend the Bergsjø area, Iungsdalen and Fødalen if you want to head high into the mountains. All fishing waters are marked on the tour maps Reineskarvet and Veståsen/Sangefjell (1:50 000).  Here you can see de brochure Sportsfishing in Ål - norwegian, and you find information in english here. The tarn Hesttjørn in Ridalen at Torpo is accessible for wheelchair users and is also suitable for families with small children. Ørretens rike The river Kvinda close to Ål centre is a part of a sports fishing project called Ørretens Rike, see www.orretensrike.no and facebook.   Types of fish All fishing zones have trout. At Veståsen in zone 3 and zone 32 at Nordre Øknevann you can get gwyniad. In zone 33 Øvre Vatsfjorden, zone 15 Rødungen North and zone 16 Rødungen South there is char as well as trout. Fishing season The start of the fishing season varies from zone to zone, and the same goes for the end of the fishing season. Last fishing dates are  01.09, 15.09 or 19.09. Fishing in the recruit water for children and youths In Olavatn, just by Rødungstøl Høyfjellshotell in the Bergsjø area, a number of trout has been placed.
