Nystølvarden - Hiking at Golsfjellet




Nystølvarden, at 1296 meters above sea level, is the highest point in Gol (GPS: 32 V 497079 6741847). Nystølvarden is situated on Søråsen/Golsfjellet, on the border between Oppland and Valdres. The view is impeccable in all directions. Nystølvarden is part of the Top 11 and makes for a fantastic family hike!
The summit is easily accessible from both Brenn (Golsfjellet) and Søråsen. The intersection numbers in the hiking descriptions refer to signs in the terrain and a free map sketch of the area.
From Golsfjellet/Brenn:
Directions: Follow Rv 51 to Brennkrysset, continue on the gravel road towards Brenn.
Hiking description: Cross 522 and 525 to Nystølvarden (peak 11).
Total length 4.0 km.
From Søråsen:
Directions: Follow Rv 7 to Herad/Gol Campingsenter, follow signs towards Bagn to Frøysokstølan, then follow the gravel road to the barrier.
Hiking description: Follow the blocked gravel road as far as it goes, then take off and follow the trail to the summit.
