The Bergsjø area in Ål

Bergsjøområdet in Ål in Hallingdal is the gate to Skarvheimen and are viewed by many as one of Norways most magnificent outdoor areas. You have panoramic view to Reineskarvet, Hallingskarvet and the mountain areas to the west of Skarvheimen. A short drive from Highway 7 and the centre of Ål with car or local bus.
You are now located about 1000 m.a.s.l, in the midst of the powerful and beautiful high mountain nature between large lakes, idyllic fishing tarns and miles and miles of marked and signed hiking- and bicycling trails.
The mountain roads from Bergsjø towards Toviken, or towards Holsåsen are very suitable for hiking, cycling and horseback riding. A car ride in the area or paddling a canoe is a great alternative to see the wonderful nature. The Norwegian Trekking Associations hiking trails are also to be found in this area.
You find good accommodations both in Bergsjøområdet and in Iungsdalen. They serve great food with roots in the local tradition and some places you can even meet the animals.
