Postvegen (The Mail Road) is the oldest known road to Garnåsgrenda from the main road through the valley. It is several hundred years old, but was named Postvegen when it was used for mail delivery in the 1800s. Start off at the bottom at Dokken/Ulvund by Rv. 7. You'll get to an info sign just after you start off. About half of the road runs along Dokkelva River. By the rest stop, Kitilstugu, there's an old dancing ground. After another 10 minutes of walking you'll arrive at Garnåsgårdene. Legend has it that King Hadding, Hallingdal's legendary king who ruled the whole valley, used to live here. Hadding gave the valley its original name, Haddingjadalr (9th century)

Directions: Drive from Nesbyen towards Gol. Park by Rv. 7 app. 1 km after the sign to Garnås on the left.

Difficulty: Medium challenging. Some steep parts.

Trail: Well cleared road.
Rest stops: Benches in 4 places.
Recommended stops: Brekkesteinen rock. Interesting geological area. Large lateral moraine from the ice age. Kitilstua. Small farm ruins. Great view of southern Hallingdal. View of the meteorite crater at Garnås. King Hadding's Kingdom at the top.
