Overview

Nesbyen has a large number of idyllic mountain lakes and rivers suitable for a swim when the sweat is dripping in the summer heat.

"Føssan" - the waterfalls in the river Rukkedøla by Hallingdal Museum has several popular bathing spots. In the summer, when the river level is at its normal, it is fun to play in the natural water slides in the river. That being said, we do not recommend this to young children. With the young ones, it's nice and safe in the water park in the Old Nes, right outside the Tourist Office.

Just next to Nor-Kro Bromma, there is a nice small beach by Hallingdalselva river. Here the river is quite wide and the water is relatively still. Both Sutøya Feriepark and Liodden Camping are great places for a dip in Hallingdalselva.

Trytetjern is an idyllic forest lake, about 6 km east of Nesbyen. From the town center, follow the signs towards Vassfaret. This lake is known for its good bathing temperature and has a small sandy beach and a pier.

In addition, you will find a ton of beautiful lakes everywhere in the mountains. Few things feel better than ending the mountain hike with a refreshing swim in a lake!
