Kayaking and blue ice trip on Folgefonna Glacier. Hike to Malmangernuten in Rosendal.
On this trip, you will find a lot of highlights. You will paddle on a small lake in front of the glacier Folgefonna. We park the kayaks on a small beach nearby the glacier, put on glacier equipment and are ready for a fairy-tale in blue ice. You can choose if you want a calm hike on the glacier or ice climbing - or both! In Rosendal you will hike on your own to Malmangernuten and it will also be time to visit the Barony in Rosendal.
The small village Rosendal is a little pearl and is perfect for families and groups of friends with slightly different physical fitness and interests. Here there is something to suit most! Rosendal is beautifully situated by the Hardanger Fjord and between the mountains Skålafjell, Melderskin and Malmangernuten.
The Barony in Rosendal is the smallest "palace" in Scandinavia, the only one of its kind in Norway and a major attraction in Fjord Norway. The manor house is famous for its magnificent Renaissance garden and its rich calendar of cultural events, including concerts, courtyard theatre and art exhibitions.
In Rosendal it is possible with both easy and more demanding hikes. The glacier trip at Folgefonna can be customized with demanding climbing for those who want that, or easier walking on the glacier, if you prefer that. We paddle in stable double kayaks that fit well for beginners. There are also single kayaks available, if desired.
In the culture village Rosendal we will stay in Rosendal Turisthotell, a small, charming hotel from 1887, surrounded by fjord, mountains, glacier and waterfall. The hotel has been through extensive refurbishment. The identity is old meets new, redesign and design, knitting, homeliness and good atmosphere.
The tour requires that you are above 15 years and have a normal level of fitness, but does not require any previous kayaking experience.
