Guided walks from Bryggen Museum among the old wooden buildings at Bryggen to the Hanseatic Museum.
Bergen's history begins at Bryggen! Join Bryggen Guiding on a tour and learn about the city's earliest history.
The walking tour begins at Bryggens Museum, where you can see the ruins of the city's oldest secular buildings dating from the early 12th century. You will also hear stories about day-to-day life in medieval Bergen. We make a quick stop outside St. Mary's Church and nearby Middle Age ruins.
The tour continues to Schøtstuene, where you will learn about the Hanseatic merchants who gradually took over Bryggen. The tour continues through the World Heritage site Bryggen. The wooden houses were built after a great city fire in 1702.
We conclude our tour at the Hanseatic Museum with its authentic buildings and storerooms from the 1700s.
The tour goes partly outside so make sure to have suitable clothes. It is not possible to bring wheelchairs or strollers on the tour because of the narrow staircases that the tour will take you through. The stairs can also be challenging for people with poor walking. It is not possible to bring dogs along on the trip.
