New guided tour including Bryggens Museum, St. Mary's Church and the Rosenkrantz Tower.
The walking tour begins at Bryggens Museum. Here you can see the ruins of the oldest building and the archaeological finds made at Bryggen, which bear witness to the international trade that took place in the city's infancy.
From Bryggens Museum, we continue to St. Mary's Church, one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city. The church was buildt in the mid-1100s, and, from the end of the Middle Ages, it was the German's church in Bergen. The church has the most elaborate church art of all the Middle Age churches in Norway. From St. Mary's Church, the tour continues to Bergenhus Fortress, where we will visit the Rosenkrantz Tower. The oldest part of the Tower was used as a residence by the kings Magnus Håkonsson and Eirik Magnusson until 1299. Among other things, you can see the old dungeon from the 1500s.
The tour goes partly outside so make sure to have suitable clothes. It is not possible to bring wheelchairs or strollers on the entire tour because of the narrow staircases in the Rosenkrantz Tower. The stairs can also be challenging for people with poor walking. Dogs are not allowed on the trip.
The ticket includes entry to Bryggens Museum, St. Mary`s Church and the Rosenkrantz Tower on the same day.
