The name “Sollidstølen” means “the mountain farm on the sunny hillside”, and the area is still used as summer grazing for the sheep at Farestveit .
The route starts here at the information board. You cross the suspension bridge and follow the forest road to the right about 100 meters. You will then see a sign where the trail starts in the terrain to your left, shortly after you’ve crossed a small stone footbridge. There is some talus in the beginning, but you will soon find a clearly visible trail with blue markings. It starts off a bit steep, but the hike is graded as moderate, and is also suitable for children from 5 years of age.
When you have put the ascent behind you, you cross a stream and then a river over a footbridge. You will soon see the mountain farm on your right hand side, but the trail continues straight forward some 50 meters before you make a turn and arrive at the homestead of the old farm houses. One of the farm houses has been rebuilt a bit further up in the terrain.
Please remember to close the gate, as there are sheep grazing at Sollidstølen.
