How to get there from Bergen: There are several starting points into Stølsheimen in Modalen: Mo centre, Helland, Straume and Steinsland. If you want to drive as far up as possible, you can take the gravel road from Steinsland to the dam by Stølsvatnet. First, drive E39 northbound to Romarheim, turn to the right onto FV 569 towards Mo in Modalen. Continue 31 km on 569 to the end of the Steinslandsvatnet, there you turn to the right, continue across a bridge and then turn to the left onto the gravel road. This road takes you up to 650 meters elevation. There is a parking lot 100 meters past the top of the dam, and this is where the route to the cabin Solrenningen starts.
